Bem2d.jl: A quadratic co-location two-dimensional boundary element approach to quasi-static faulting problems with gravity and non-planar topography

Linear elastic boundary element models are commonly used tools to understand the mechanics of earthquake cycle processes and their contribution growth tectonic structures. Here we describe a two-dimensional plane strain linear approach based on displacement discontinuity method. This integrates an analytic solution for coincident interactions using three node quadratic elements classic particular integral uni-directional gravity. Three more accurate than classical constant enable exact representation displacements, stresses tractions subject slip gradients. We demonstrate recovery solutions illustrate combined effects faulting gravitational body forces in presence topographic relief. • Analytic provide improved near-field accuracy. A BEM formulation faulting, topography, 2D implementation is provided Julia.
